If you’ve been listening to ANHI's Malnutrition Awareness Week podcast series (23 September, 24 September, 25 September, 26 September), you know about Malnutrition Awareness Week in the United States, Canada and Britain. If you haven’t yet heard the other podcasts in this series, and you’re unfamiliar with the observance, here’s what you need to know: Malnutrition Awareness Week is a multi-organizational campaign that was created by the American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), and presented in partnership with the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) and the British Association for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN). Its purpose is to:
- Educate and encourage healthcare professionals to identify and treat malnutrition earlier
- Educate and encourage consumers and patients to discuss their nutrition status with healthcare professionals
- Increase awareness of nutrition’s role in patient recovery
This episode is the final episode in our five-episode series on malnutrition awareness, and it focuses on the recent congressional briefing and resolution for Malnutrition Awareness Week.
